Second International Symposium on Climate and Earth System Modeling

(Nanjing, China October 15-16, 2015)

Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) will host the 2nd Symposium on Climate and Earth System Modeling during October 15-16, 2015. The venue of the symposium will be at NUIST, Nanjing. The working language of the symposium is English.

The symposium will provide a forum for climate researchers to discuss recent advances and current issues covering the development and improvement of Climate System Model (CSM) and Earth System Model (ESM), model diagnostics and application in studying climate variability, climate prediction and predictability, and future climate and environmental change. The main focus of the symposium will be on the strategy and methodology for improvement and application of the coupled atmosphere-ocean-land-sea ice climate models.

The symposium will cover the following themes:

(a) The CSM and ESM development and improvements, including their component models;

(b) Application of the CSM or ESM to understand sources of climate variability and predictability and the climate sensitivity to external forcing;

(c) Use of models for climate prediction and future change studies, as well as other applications.
