报告摘要:Soil moisture is one of the crucial climate parameters determining the world’s climate. Through describing the different milestone papers in the development of the theory of soil moisture-climate interaction, five sets of problems are put forward: 1) is there really a circulation character before and during the EASM event? If so, what should it be and how to describe it? 2) Does the soil moisture anomaly affect these circulation characters? 3) How does the soil moisture control the air-temperature profile at daily/seasonal scales? Could it be evaluated? 4) When it comes to region, how does the profile anomaly affect the circulation? What are the amplitude and scales caused by soil moisture anomaly? 5) In practical terms, how does the soil moisture anomaly alter the circulation and monsoon?
In this presentation, an assumption to get the insight into the soil moisture-boundary layer temperature profile is described firstly; then, the general circulation structure before and during the onset, duration and northward jump of EASM will be retrieved and analyzed to indicate its correspondence to soil moisture while the ERA-interim reanalysis data is combined with WACMOS 30-years remote sensing data to get the evidence for soil moisture-circulation feedbacks; thirdly, the designs of numerical experiments are introduced and the possibility of using them to analyze the soil moisture-pressure/precipitation relationship is discussed; lastly, a new theory in explaining the triggering soil moisture condition will be established to provide seasonal EASM forecasting skill.
