专家简介：

Peter Ray教授，著名雷达气象学专家。1973-1984年在NOAA国家强风暴实验室（National Severe Storms Laboratory）工作担任气象学和电气工程系的副主任和兼职教授。自1985起是美国佛罗里达州立大学终身教授。 他是利用雷达和卫星遥感技术研究强对流天气的知名专家，为数以千计的客户提供精确飓风预报。他还辅导南信大博士生首创了雷达资料质量控制径向速度退模糊算法。

报告内容：

While my talks may focus on the Radar as an instrument, limitations and opportunities, it will also share many of the important principles common to many types of sensors,   Meteorology is fundamentally an observational science where the observations are often incorporated in many types of models and algorithms.  While the details will draw upon the RADAR as an instrument there are important parallels to all data types and how they are used.  Thus, someone who is not just a “Radar Meteorologist” would profit by understanding the opportunities and limitations that all observations share.  A recognition and understand these limitation are crucial for both the operational meteorologist and the scientist using data.
